In this way, material is prevented from being discarded or ending up in the environment, while the addition of new material in production is minimized.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Closed loop means that 100% of the material from the used item is recycled. The customer then sends the product back when it is used up and the same product is created from the material. Open loop instead means that waste material is packaged and sold to other manufacturers, i.e. the material is recycled but it is not the same product.
